چکیده
Aim: This study was aimed to investigate visceral adiposity indicators and the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. Material Methods: A total 353 adults aged between 18 74 years were included this study. Bodyweight, height, waist, hip circumference measured; fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein high-density cholesterol) values analyzed. Visceral (VAI), accumulation product (LAP), body (BAI), shape (ABSI), roundness (BRI), conicity (CI), AIP levels calculated. Results: The 116 (32.9%) males 237 (67.1%) females, with a mean age 57.8±11.5 years. z-scores found be directly related T2DM (OR, 5.03; 95% CI: 1.95-13.01), while VAI less associated 1.10; 1.03-1.18). According ROC curve analysis, although area under (AUC) is weak distinguish diabetic patients VAI, LAP, AIP, it statistically significant (p<0.001, AUC: 0.619, cut-off= 5.1, 0.561-0.677; p=0.007, 0.583, 63.2, 0.523-0.642; p=0.001, 0.606, 0.4, 0.547-0.665, respectively). Conclusion: are strong predictors diabetes, better predictor predicting than LAP.

BACKGROUND Insulin resistance is often associated with increased triglyceride (TG) and decreased HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations and increased small LDL particles. The Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), defined as log(TG/HDL-C), has recently been proposed as a marker of plasma atherogenicity because it is increased in people at higher risk for coronary heart disease and is inversely corr...

BACKGROUND Obesity and diabetes mellitus (DM) are established risk factors for the development of chronic kidney disease. Visceral adiposity (VAT) and subcutaneous adiposity (SAT) may be associated with the differential metabolic risk. Our study was performed to determine whether VAT or SAT was associated with the decrease of renal function in people with type 2 DM. METHODS Nine hundred and t...

AIMS Although there is still no clear definition of "adipose tissue dysfunction" or ATD, the identification of a clinical marker of altered fat distribution and function may provide the needed tools for early identification of a condition of cardiometabolic risk. Our aim was to evaluate the correlations among various anthropometric indices [BMI, Waist Circumference (WC), Hip Circumference (HC),...
